Following a developmental approach to learning and growth, SES staff are trained in the ALERT program, teaching self-regulation and utilizing ALERT tools individualized to student needs. Students may also benefit from more intensive self-regulation services by participating in the “Engine Room”.
Students needing a more quiet lunch area may eat in the Oasis. The Oasis utilizes one of our daycare rooms to permit approximately 20 students to enjoy lunch in a calmer, less stimulating environment. Care is taken to minimize sensory stimuli such as food smells, noise, physical proximity, and specialized covers soften the lighting. Students eat their lunch and engage in calm social activities such as board games.
