January Nutrition Tip:
Healthy Snacks and Lunches at School: Because school is an educational setting where children spend about a third of their day and where they develop on a physical level as much as on a psychological level, it is important that they bring a healthy snack and lunch. This month with the initiative of the Nutrition Committee we are starting our Healthy Life Styles Program to encourage students to eat a healthy snack in the morning.
Here are some healthy snack ideas suggested by Grade 2 students: cheese, yogurt, yop, apple, banana, grapes, watermelon, peach, orange, cucumber, small tomatoes and raisins.
February Nutrition Tip:
Here are three good reasons for you and your family to eat healthy. Eating healthy provides all the necessary nutrients that your body needs to create new cells, clean toxins and to just function every day! It can help prevent future diseases such as diabetes and cancer. When you eat healthy you have more energy and are more alert. That’s why it is important that students bring a healthy snack and lunch to school.
For Valentine’s Day, instead of giving chocolates or sweets to your children, take a few minutes to make a delicious fruit brochette with them. They’ll love spending time with you and the fruits will boost their immune system.
